As aliveact I play set from 25-150 minutes with different kinds of equipment, according to location and style of the set.
The style of the live-setup is psychedelic / goa-trance / full-on (136-144bpm) for the dance or dubby, electro, ambient for the chill.
SteveDragon´s sound is outstanding but full of pressure and drive. It gets its special feeling through steve´s intuitive kind of playing live.
It is really important for me to play LIVE and modulate all parameters of my tracks in realtime.
I think this lets the energy flow and makes a liveset possible- I wonder why I should call me "liveact" if I only used DATs and playback?
What is a live-gig if there is no exitement about playing live??? As a musician I would find it quite boring just to pretend for a tape..
For me, music has a lot to do with concentration, deepness and feeling the inner power and being centered. Without these things, music won´« work.
During a gig, when I really can work it out to forget everything around me and just play music with all my soul, I get connected to the energy that makes it possible to arrange 24 tracks in realtime and transmit the energy to the crowd.
As basic equipment I use a Macintosh G4 Powerbook with Ableton Live and Reason, Clavia NordRack2, Quasimidi Sirius,Oxygen8, Mixer and Fx.
The master-signal always runs over a TC.Electronics Finalizer, to make the sound really fat and clear and to protect the PA...:-)
In addition to the synths and mac I bring other instruments like percussion or guitar to improve the setup according to the location or theme of the event.
